Rainy day advantages

Worked so hard all week in the garden to get it ready for winter, and now we can stay warm and dry inside and admire what we’ve accomplished, maybe even read some fiction!

Crans-Montana had 45CM of fresh snow overnight – the resort above us – our turn for snow tomorrow. Meanwhile, the garden shed is done and we are still married after some heated discussions about whether or not doors should be plumb (they are now). No need to water the Alpine balcony geraniums today, thank you Mother Nature, so we can just admire their final days of glory before a hard freeze zaps them. Wheelbarrow filling with water for veranda plants. Leaves are mostly raked, and the compost as well as 2 mulching bins are filled with pruned wood and leaves. The vegetable patch above the new dry rock wall is nearly cleaned out and ready to plant onions and garlic when we have our next sunny day. Tools inside the new shed remain dry despite steady rain. Nice!
